Wise: Were better than that

Wise was not satisfied with his sides performance on Friday night and went on to say "Were better than that". Hereford were the better attacking team in the 0-0 draw and went close to scoring several times. Hereford chief Graham Turner said Turner said: "John McCombe's overhead kick on another day goes in and Lionel Ainsworth's header if it goes either side of the keeper is a goal. We had the better chances although Leeds a lot of the ball". Wise admits his side were not at its best and said fatigue affected us. Wise said "We are a lot better than we (showed), but I will give them the benefit of the doubt after the fact that we have ended up in Carlisle, Bournemouth and now Hereford in the space of six days. It's been a long, long bit of travelling and has been hard work for them".

Lets hope Leeds can put this performance behind them and get an home win against Swindon on Saturday.

Leeds marked their first appearance in the 1st round of the FA cup with a 0-0 draw against Hereford. Wise made several changes to his squad. Huntington, Parker, Weston and Howson replaced Richardson, Hughes, Prutton and Clapham. Leeds started brightly with Howson coming close while Trevor Benjamin threatened at the other end. Theo Robinson also tested Casper Ankergren early on. The game was played at great pace with Hereford putting most of the pressure on. Leeds then started to press and Seb carole caused problems with is pace. Leeds started to enjoy being in control of the game, Beckfords overhead kick didn't trouble the keeper. Jonathan Douglas was the next to try is luck with the keeper saving comfortably. Tresor Kandol had the last chance of the half after he latched onto a long ball but Brown saved with ease.

The second half started with the host coming close. Leeds replied instantly with Douglas and Carole coming close. On the hour mark Douglas picked up his fourth booking of the season. 10 Minutes later Parker also was booked for bringing down Robinson. Wise then made an attacking change by introducing Da Costa with Weston making way. With 10 minutes left Ankergren made a very good save by denying Ainsworths close range header. With minutes left Wise made his second change, Constantine replaced Kandol. In the dying minutes Hereford pressed and went for the winning goal but Leeds defended solidly.

The final score ended 0-0 so there will be a replay on Tuesday 20th November at Elland Road.

Leeds step into unknown terrority

The former Sheffield United and Wimbledon manager, who replaced Gus Poyet as Leeds' assistant-manager last week Dave Bassett will be giving the orders from the touchline on Friday night as Leeds United enter unknown terrority in the FA Cup. Dennis Wise is serving a three match touchline ban.

Leeds will compete in the first round for the first time in 82 years due to their League One status, and are also playing Hereford United for the first time. Hereford seem confident going into tomorrow nights game. Bulls Head Coach John Trewick said "I’m sure Leeds think they are a big club, and they fancy their chances. Let them worry about us, we’ve just got to take them on". Dennis Wise admits that the FA cup is important to the team. If they win on Friday night then a draw against a premiership club in the next round will benefit Leeds financial."It's an important cup for us, it's a money spinner," said Wise.The game as being selected for live TV coverage.

Hereford are unbeaten in their last three games after a 2-1 win against Mansfield on Tuesday night. Hereford like Leeds are doing well this season and they have got themselves into 2nd place in league two.

Leeds go marchin on

Leeds travelled to Bournemouth on Tuesday night for the first time in 17 years. Leeds were looking to bounce back from a 3-1 defeat at Dean Court. The traveling Leeds fans were expecting a good start and that's what they got. Four minutes in former cherry striker Tresor Kandol was released through on goal and his initial shot was poor but the Bournemouth goalkeeper Neil Moss spilled the ball and Kandol was able to tap in. It was a scrappy start to the game and the next chance fell for Leeds with Kandol heading over. Kuffour had the first real chance for Bournemouth with a hefted chip just landing the wrong side of the far post. The Cherries started to take control off the game and the well deserved equalizer then came. Karacan scored from long range with a stunning unstoppable effort. The cherries were lifted by the equalizer and had one blocked on the line.

Both sides came close at the start of the second half and it was the home team coming the closest. It came from a corner and all it needed was a touch but Alex pearce arrived a moment to late. Minutes later David Pruttons header was saved comfortably by the goalkeeper. Then Leeds regained the lead through Seb Carole. A nice one two finished with a brilliant strike. Sixty-two minutes in to the game Lee Bradbury won Bournemouth a free kick but seconds later shown a red card for using his elbow on Matt Heath. The home side found it difficult to brake through but did cause problems in the Leeds penalty area. With 5 minutes remaining Leeds wrapped up the points with Kandols 8th goal of the season.

The final score was 3-1 and Leeds proved it was just an off day Saturday evening when they played Carlisle.

Wise: Result Important

Leeds lost their unbeaten run of 13 games at the hands of Carlisle. Leeds were beaten 3-1 on Saturday evening at Brunton park. Wise as told his lads he wants his lads to bounce back immediately after the 3-1 defeat. Wise said 'I want to get a result as soon as we can, and I don't want this to go for too long' Wise also went on to say, 'It's an important game against Bournemouth, and it's going to be a difficult one'.

Both teams are likely to name unchanged sides. The Cherries climbed off the bottom of the table Saturday evening with are superb away win at Bristol City. They will look to carry on were they left off on Saturday and look to move out of the relegation zone with a home win. With playing seven home games and just picking up the two points it looks very unlikely for an home victory.

Bristol Rovers 0-2 Bournemouth

Leeds United opponents for Tuesday are Bournemouth. Bournemouth beat Bristol Rovers 2-0 to move off the bottom of the table. Bournemouth sit in the relegation zone despite winning away on Saturday.Debutant James Henry struck late in both half's to secure the win. Bournemouth dominated the game start to finish and Rovers rarely threatened the Cherries goal. Leeds travel to Bournemouth on Tuesday coming of a back of a 3-1 defeat. Leeds will try and bounce back from that defeat and go all out to beat Bournemouth on Tuesday.

Carlisle go top as leeds taste defeat for first time this season

Leeds United tasted defeat for the first time this season. Their 13 match unbeaten run came to a end as Carlisle triumphed 3-1 at Brunton Park. The final scoreline didn't reflect how the game was played. Leeds dominated most of the first half and deservedly led at the break through a Jermaine Beckford tap in. This was is 8th goal of the season coming in the 28th minute. Beckford nearly made it two towards the end of the first half with a dipping shot from 20 yards out which narrowly went over.

Carlisle livened up in the second half. They struck on the hour mark through a trademark strike from Simon Hackney. Minutes later Joe Garner sent Brunton Park into raptures with a headed goal. With 15 minutes remaining Wise went for the equalizer by introducing Leon Constantine and Filipe Da Costa replacing David Pruton and Seb Carole. Leeds threw all they had at Carlisle but the home sides defending was solid. Leeds strugeled to find the equalizer and Filipe Da Costa had Leeds final chance but struke wide of the mark. Carlisle then hit Leeds on the counter attack and found a third through Mark Bridge-Wilkinson.

Although Leeds was defeated they shouldn't feel to disheartened as they were the better team and they never stoped working. Leeds can be proud of the progress made this season winning 11 drawn 2 and just losing the one.
